Gorden Cheng

FOUNDER, KMGB CAPITAL

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA

ABOUT GORDEN

Gorden Cheng leads a double life. By day, he is the founder of KMGB Capital, a digital asset management firm built on institutional custody, validator node operation, and decentralized finance. By night — and on concert stages around the world — he is a classical pianist, a laureate of numerous amateur piano competitions in Paris, Warsaw, Boston, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Colorado Springs, having trained entirely through private study rather than a conservatory.

Born in Chongqing (重庆), China, Cheng immigrated with his family to the United States in 1986 and began playing piano at age eight. The family moved through New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas before finally settling in San Diego in 2003. Along the way, he has studied with Yifan Liu, Dr. Robert Xavier Rodriguez, Rinna Livshin, Katherin Dvoskin, Ella Karpukhova, and Vitali Margulis.

Cheng holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas and an MBA from Western Governors University. Before founding KMGB Capital, he spent 21 years in IT and information security, including leadership roles at Qualcomm, Sony, and Oracle, where he focused on cryptographic standards, risk management, and security architecture.

When he isn't at the keyboard — literal or figurative — Cheng can be found hacking on hardware and software projects, drinking boba with his wife, Judy, or squaring off in Counter-Strike and StarCraft against his two sons, Alex and Jamie.
